As always, this is super refined, but with convincing cabernet sauvignon depth on the nose. Lightly ashy, with a medium to full body and lots of fine cigar box, tobacco, cassis, dark berries, cocoa powder and hints of cumin and fennel. Firm and rich, and the tannins are polished but chalky and reactive, with an incredibly long, juicy finish. This is the 25th vintage of Vinedo Chadwick, and it is definitely one of the best cabernets from this hot vintage, but I don't feel any heat here. In fact, I can't even tell that this comes from a warm year. 96% cabernet sauvignon and 4% petit verdot. This shows transparency and purity of fruit compared with the more cedary 2021. This is one of the best vintages of Vinedo de Chadwick. There is lovely balance that makes it approachable now, but it will be better from 2027.

Viñedo Chadwick se produce desde 1999, un nuevo vecino en el barrio de Tocornal (Puente Alto, en el Maipo Andes) que se suma a nombres ilustres como Almaviva y Don Melchor. Desde su primera versión, se ha basado en cabernet sauvignon, con algo de petit verdot (3% en esta añada) de esos faldeos andinos. Tiene 22 meses de crianza en barricas y muestra una cara sutil y jugosa de esta zona histórica del Maipo, las notas herbales, los tonos a especias dulces, los tonos terrosos repartidos con cierta democracia sobre un colchón de taninos finos, agudos, incisivos. Tiene sabores a frutas rojas dulces, pero también notas a hierbas que le dan frescor.

Aromas of blackcurrants, crushed stone, bay leaves, graphite, violets and some rust. Full-bodied with layers of velvety tannins that turn to cashmere. Juicy and flavorful. Needs time to open. It’s extremely structured and solid. Best after 2027.

This complex and multilayered effort lures you in with fresh violet, crushed fennel seed, damp earth and graphite aromas that give way to a rich, commanding and well-defined core of black cherry, plum and cassis. A subtle saline edge checks in, lending a mouthwatering quality as this moves to the lengthy finish around dense, structured tannins, plus late echoes of dried mint and bay leaf. La cosecha 2021 fue fresca en el Alto Maipo, especialmente en época de maduración de las uvas, lo que se ha traducido en frutas más rojas y frescas, pero sobre todo en la expresión de taninos finos y punzantes de la zona de Puente Alto. Esta versión de Chadwick responde a esa descripción, las frutas rojas, la tensión de la acidez que parece resaltar la textura de los taninos, las notas a flores y hierbas que se muestran hacia el final. Una versión de las mejores que hemos probado. La primera edición de este Viñedo Chadwick fue en 1999, y desde entonces se ha basado en cabernet sauvignon, con algo de petit verdot. Viene de los suelos aluviales del viñedo Tocornal, la misma fuente de grandes vinos chilenos, como Almaviva o Don Melchor. Desde la cosecha 2014 este vino venía cambiando, moviéndose a territorios más frescos, con menos madera y menos alcohol. La cosecha 2016 fue una suerte de "salida del clóset", un año frío fue la coartada perfecta para mostrar esta nueva cara.

Very elegant and refined, with a suave minerality to the red cherry and dried raspberry flavors, which are backed by crisp acidity and tannins. Very imposing and dark, smoky and balsamic nose with notes of graphite and bark! Deep and complete at the front and in the middle of the full-bodied palate, where the huge tannin structure is beautifully integrated, At the finish still very compact and quite firm, for which reason you might mistake this for a high-end red Bordeaux from a ripe and very structured vintage like 2010. Anything but dramatic, this builds slowly on the medium- to full-bodied palate, the elegant tannins, savory character and discreet fruit beautifully matched through the long, silky finish.
